Greet message Fr. Bryce. It reminds me of a bumper sticker I once saw. “You don’t find trailer hitches on a hearse”. What we have here on earth we can’t take it with us when we go. Quick question: Do you believe that if we live a simple life here on earth we will be rewarded in heaven or is it what we do with our physical possessions while on earth is more important? Thanks again…Dave from Colorado
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say both. Our Lord says many times to store up for yourselves treasures in Heaven and not on earth. He also says, how hard it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven. It would be harder for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for the rich to enter Heaven. But then when Peter says "what's in it for us who have left everything behind?" Our Lord answers with "you will receive a 100 fold in this life with persecutions and eternal life in the next" (Mark 10:30). I think the best bet is to be a good steward of what we've been given. Our Lord commands then stewards who multiply the talents they have been given. Ultimately, everything we have, or don't have, should be used with the mindset of bearing fruit in eternal life. That's may take. Peace, Dave.
