Alls Well that Ends Well... I Guess

There hadn't been snow all winter, but I knew the Lord wouldn't let us down. Provide He did. 3' of fresh powder the day Kurt and I headed up to the folk's cabin for a ride in the Big Horns. No greater place to be when it's snowing than right in the middle of it all. I love snowmobiling. When it's good, it's good. But when it's bad, it's bad.

Here's what we woke up to last Friday morning. Kurt rides a snowbike, and this was the first time out the gate on my 2015 Polaris RMX Pro 800. We were jacked.

We cut fresh track up to Battle Park, every rider's dream. The thought crossed our minds to just stick to the trail cause the snow was so good, but there was some drifts that needed to be busted. Here's as good as it gets.

Unfortunately I got greedy and wanted to hit that cornice once more before we moved on. As I did, and my track was spinning, she reached down and caught dirt and snapped this final drive belt on the right side of the sled. SOL. So we Dumb and Dumbered it back to the cabin and made some phone calls and headed to Sheridan to get a new one.

On the way I met a couple friends I knew as a kid. We've been farming for quite awhile now.

SOL again. Sheridan didn't have the same belt. So we headed to Black Tooth to think it over. Super long story short, she had to spend the week up there till I could get a new belt and hitch a ride back up.

That day came this past Saturday when Dagen Geis and his brother Wyatt and dad Kevin threw in to give me a hand. There she sat waiting for us. We changed the belt, but for some darn reason the clutches were acting up so Dagen had to drag me home.

Alls well that ends well. My pride is still wounded, but we'll be back up and running in no time. Until then... we're on to the next one.

For the Good of Marriage

When we uphold the three goods of marriage, indissolubility, unity, and procreation, marriage works good. When we separate any one of these goods, marriage goes bad.

Truth Baby

Don't let emotions drive the bus. Take control with your reason, which will lead you to the Truth, Jesus Christ.

Nature vs. Nurture

It's probably a bit of both. But the only thing we can effect now is how we nurture our faith.

St. Joe's Pool Hall

On new year's eve Fr. Brian Hess asked me what we are doing with the basement of the rectory. "Nothing," I said. To which he suggested that we should use it to host young adult events and the like. I took his admonition and ran. So Saturday evening was the debut of St. Joe's Pool Hall.

The basic idea is to create an environment where we can share our life in Christ in a casual setting

The basement needed work so Jared Biegler shared his talents and tools to help get us a bar built

We had some old office furniture that made a fine fit for repurposing

Looks like the kids found it functional. Well done Ol' son.

You can't have a pool hall without a pool table. God provided us with this lovely American Heritage table through the generosity of Linda Wegher.

Our first night out we held a Theology on Tap. Your's truly presented on the subject matter: The Three Transcendentals - Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.

But William stole the show with his rendition of Margaritaville

I'm excited about the potential of our holy pool hall. Today was Theo on Tap, tomorrow we'll see. One thing is for certain, when Christ is at our center, life rocks. Peace.

Meet Mollie

For a while now I've been looking for a second horse. Not knowing if I should, or even what I'd get, I just left it in the hands of God. That desire was fulfilled two weeks ago when we went down to see Riley. At the end of our ranch tour he showed me a colt with my name on it. After a bit of thought and prayer, and by God's grace and Riley's generosity, she's now part of the WCC herd.

I'm not usually a mare guy, but she's been spayed and has a lovely, spirited disposition.

Not wanting to quench that spirit, but insuring she wouldn't hurt me, I named her after my great-grandmother Mollie Wamboldt

So John and I jumped in his silver bullet and ran down to Missouri

I like her. She has pretty eyes and a solid build.

Chief likes her too

This is going to be a fun summer. Mollie needs some work, but luckily I have friends in low places. Paul Casey's going to help me get the buck out of her and make her soft as sugar. I just hope she likes riding in back of a pickup.

Gate Time

So it begins. The season of building gates is upon us. First up was a series of crowding gates for the working pen back home. I can be accus...
